March 30, 2015 – The Belgian intergovernmental committee on health care has approved an action plan to start a widespread usage of the interRAI instrument for integrated care. BelRAI – the name of the interRAI instruments in Belgium – will first be rolled out in elderly care in the settings home care, acute care and long term care facilities. In parallel, usage of the mental health and community mental health modules (already available in Pyxicare) will be investigated. In a second phase the usefullness of interRAI instruments in areas such as post acute care, person with disabilities, emergency department care and revalidation will be analysed.
This decision marks a new milestone in the gradual roll-out of interRAI instruments in Belgium.
